This production was meant to be relatively inexpensive so much of this design process required me to look through what pieces we had in stock and plugging them into the show. I knew I wanted some bar shelves, which were pretty cheap, so they were approved. I was also fully responsible for painting everything including the floor.
Another big challenge with this show was the ASL interpreters. The director wanted to fully incorporate them into the show which essentially doubled the number of people on at one time. Luckily this play takes place in a bar most of the time so adding more tables and chairs for them still made sense.
